How to write a prompt for Kinoslide

November 1, 2026 · 3 min read

Many people ask ChatGPT to write a prompt for Kinoslide. What comes back is often a long production brief, with scene timings, camera moves, character designs, and a title card. Kinoslide skips most of that. It plans the scenes, the visuals, and the timing on its own. What it needs from you is the content.

What to put in the prompt

A good prompt has three parts.

  • The topic as one question or one idea. "Why a triangle's angles add to 180 degrees" gives the lesson a point. "Geometry" does not.
  • One concrete example with real numbers. "Solve x² + 6x + 5 = 0" gives the lesson something to work through on the board.
  • Who it is for. "For grade 8 students" or "for first-year pharmacy students" sets the vocabulary and the pace.

Here is the full prompt behind one of the examples on our home page.

Why 1/3 + 1/4 is not 2/7, and how a common denominator fixes it. Cut one bar into thirds and another into quarters, then cut both into twelfths so the pieces match: 4/12 plus 3/12 is 7/12. For students in grades 4 to 6.

It names a common mistake, the picture that fixes it, the exact numbers, and the age group. Kinoslide took it from there.

Set these in the form

Some choices belong in the create form. Writing them in the prompt does not change them.

  • The style: Dry Erase, Blackboard, Mind's Eye, Presentation, Whiteboard, or Paper Trail.
  • The length. Writing "make it three minutes" in the prompt does not change the length you picked.
  • The language. Pick it in the menu, and write the prompt in the same language.
  • The frame. Dry Erase, Blackboard, Mind's Eye, and Paper Trail can render in a vertical 9:16 frame for Shorts.
  • The voice, on Pro and Scale.

What to leave out

  • Scene-by-scene timings such as "Scene 1, 0 to 3 seconds". Kinoslide sets the number of scenes and their timing from the length.
  • 3D animation, cartoon characters, realistic people, and camera moves. Kinoslide draws 2D diagrams, handwriting, shapes, and slides. A prompt that asks for a 3D cartoon still gets a drawn lesson.
  • Role instructions such as "You are an expert video producer". They add nothing to the lesson.
  • Long lists of topics. One video should answer one question. Make a second video for the next one.

Upload a PDF when you have one

If the lesson already exists as notes, a worksheet, a textbook chapter, or slides, upload it as a PDF and pick the pages. Kinoslide writes the narration from those pages. On Pro and Scale you can add a steering prompt of up to 1,500 characters to say what to focus on, such as "only the second worked example" or "assume students know the quadratic formula".

Paste a script when the words matter

If you already have the exact narration, paste it as the prompt and choose Narrate word for word. This needs a script of at least 100 words and works in Dry Erase, Blackboard, Mind's Eye, and Paper Trail. Kinoslide reads the script exactly as written and builds the visuals to match. The length comes from the script, at about 150 words a minute.

If you ask ChatGPT to write it

Ask for something short. This request gets a prompt that works:

Write a prompt for Kinoslide in three sentences: the topic as one question, one worked example with real numbers, and who the lesson is for. Leave out scene timings, characters, camera directions, and style instructions.

A request to paste into ChatGPT

Then pick the style, length, and language in Kinoslide, paste the prompt, and generate.

Common questions

How long should a Kinoslide prompt be?

Two to five sentences is enough for a lesson of one to three minutes. The prompt box takes up to 10,000 characters, which leaves room to paste notes or a source text.

Can I tell Kinoslide what each scene should show?

You can describe the order of ideas and the example you want. Kinoslide plans the scenes, the visuals, and the timing itself, based on the length you pick.

Why did my video come out in the wrong language?

The lesson follows the language of the prompt. Write the prompt in the language you want, and pick the same language in the menu.

Can Kinoslide make 3D or cartoon videos?

No. Kinoslide draws 2D diagrams, handwriting, shapes, and slides in the style you pick. It does not make 3D scenes or cartoon characters.
